The Calm...

...before the storm.  The NCAA is in town for the Sweet 16 and the Elite 8 and I happen to be running the DSNG truck for numerous CBS affiliates who have teams in this round.  A look at what is to come...

I'm sure tomorrow (gameday!) will bring much more excitement.  And I'll have the camera ready!

The First Few...

...are gonna be part of the learning process with the new camera.  I'm pretty happy, so far, with the results.
Check out my page on Facebook for more pics:  The Cameramonkey.

To The Victor...

...goes the spoils.  After a successful, yet painfully long hunt, I found me a camera!

To be specific, it's the Canon Rebel XSi.  And aaaaaahhhhh is it sweeeeeet!  To be able to shoot a series of pics, then go back and look at 'em instantly and decide which ones to keep, and be able to upload them to a blog or Facebook page is... is... just too cool!

And this will be the blog for it.  The Cameramonkey.  Like that name don't cha?!  Yup, I named it myself.  This used to be my old blog, We Be JaM'N, C?! but trying to maintain 2 blogs and 2 Facebook pages was gonna waaaay more work than I really needed to do.  So hang out here to see what I'm up to.

...please?!

Oh, and it's on Facebook too.  You should really become a fan.

...pretty please?!

Shhh! I'm hunting...

...for wewy expensive camwas.  Huh-uhuhuh!

It's kinda hard to type out an Elmer Fudd impression on a blog.  Try it and see, if you know who that is!

During this past weekend was my Football's first birthday and I actually broke out the 35mm Hanimex to rip off a few shots.  This was the first time in a long time that I had actually shot anything with that camera.  I did take to the zoo when we all went there a couple weekends ago but didn't even take it out of the bag.

That's just sad.  I'm sure my Dad is just spinning away in his urn.  *sigh*

Truth is, I'm just having a hard time justifying a 35mm film camera.  Sure, the cost of film and development is minimal but when you shoot roll after roll after roll only to have, maybe, two or three shots that turn out really nice, then the term "minimal" gets applied elsewhere.  As much as I love that camera, for technical and, more importantly, sentimental reasons, I'd like to improve my... "average", if you will, before I use that camera more.  I'm not gonna get rid of the 35mm, ever.  I'll just break it out for... special occasions.

So, into the DSLR world I jump.  I'd like to think that Dad would be proud of me for all the research I've been doing.  Website after website after review after review after store trip after... I've got notes on my iPod fer cryin' out loud!  My eyes are so bloodshot after all this that a camera might be the last thing I would think of using!  Professionally that could cause a problem for me...

But, I think I've narrowed it down to two:  the Canon XSi (450D) vs the Canon T1i (500D).

  Oh wook!  Camwa twacks!  Huh-uhuhuh!
